Plane explodes during takeoff killing four skydivers and pilot

Four men and one woman have died after their light aircraft crashed in eastern Australia and burst into flames

Four skydivers and a pilot are believed dead after their plane burst into flamesduring takeoff in eastern Australia.
The pilot, two skydiving instructors and two customers died when their light aircraft veered sharply to the left at the end of the runway, before crashing in a fiery explosion.
The plane crashed at Caboolture Airport, north of Brisbane, at 11.30am on Saturday.
Queensland Police said: "It is believed that five people were on board and that all are deceased."
Mark Thompson from the Caboolture Warplane Museum was among the first on the scene and said the crash was the worst crash he'd seen at the airport.
He told the Brisbane Times, "They've had a couple of incidents here, but nothing like this."
Members of the skydivers' families were in the airfield and saw the devastating scenes unfold from the ground.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service said: We received a call from the airfield and sent three crews to a light plane that had crashed. The fire was extinguished in 10 minutes."
Asked what he thought could have caused the crash, airport safety officer Bryan Carpenter told local radio: "It's something mechanical I would say... or the pilot could have blacked out - any number of scenarios; it's a bit like MH370 at the moment, we just don't know."
