Mother is shot dead and daughter seriously injured in horror gun attack




Victim and her daughter were fired at by man who has been arrested and treated in hospital for gunshot wounds

It is being reported that a woman in her 60s has been shot dead in a horrific gun attack in Tallaght, Co Dublin.
It is understood the gunman opened fire on the victim and her daughter on the Killinarden Estate this afternoon.
Sources have revealed the dead woman was blasted in the head and her daughter was hit in the face.
The gunman was reportedly attacked by neighbours.
A firearm, believed to be a shotgun, was also found at the scene which has been sealed off.
The suspect has since been arrested and is being treated in hospital for self inflicted injuries.
The State Pathologist is on her way and the woman's body remains at the scene.
It is believed the incident could be connected to a dispute among neighbours.
A Garda spokesman said: "Gardai were called to the scene shortly after 4pm. A middle aged woman was discovered fatally injured.
"Another woman, believed to be in her 20s, is being treated for gunshot injuries at Tallaght Hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening.
"A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and a firearm, a shotgun has been recovered.
"He is being treated for non life threatening injuries at St James' Hospital. He is detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939."
