'Military intervention would be the beginning of war': Ukraine puts its armed forces on full alert

Ukraine

David Cameron announced Britain has called for the UN Security Council to hold an emergency closed-door meeting to deal with the 'serious and concerning' events in Ukraine as Putin threatens military invasion.
Military have already taken to the streets in Crimea (top right). Pleas from Britain and the U.S. for Russia to stay out of Ukraine's affairs went ignored as permission was given to Putin (bottom right) to deploy his troops in Ukraine. The decision formalises what Ukraine was already calling an armed occupation, where troops seized key targets such as airports and border control points. Pro-European protesters in other Ukrainian cities such as Kharkiv and Donetsk today felt the brunt of Russian-supporting Ukrainians, who left dozens wounded and seized a government building (left).
